Website Accessibility Statement

This accessibility statement applies to the website at www.theparkacademiestrust.com.

This website is run by The Park Academies Trust. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, you should be able to:

  • Change colours, contrast levels and fonts using your browser or device settings
  • Zoom in up to 400% without the text spilling off the screen
  • Navigate most of the website using a keyboard or speech recognition software
  • Listen to most of the website using a screen reader

We try to make the website text as straightforward as possible.

AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability: https://mcmw.abilitynet.org.uk.

This statement relates only to the website at www.theparkacademiestrust.com. The individual school websites and The Park Academies Trust Sixth Form website have their own accessibility arrangements.

Our wider approach to accessibility and inclusion is set out in our Accessibility Policy, available from the Key Information section of this website.

How accessible this website is

We know that some parts of this website are not fully accessible:

  • Many older PDF documents, and some more recent PDFs in the Key Information section, are not tagged or structured in a way that works well with screen readers
  • Some PDF documents may not fully meet colour contrast and heading structure requirements
  • The embedded map on the Contact page, which is provided by a third party, is not fully accessible to screen reader users and can be difficult to use with a keyboard
  • Third party content and links, including social media feeds and documents produced by partner organisations, may not fully meet our accessibility standards

We are working to address these issues as part of our ongoing maintenance and content review.

Technical information about this website’s accessibility

The Park Academies Trust is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

Compliance status

This website has been tested against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.2 AA standard.

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA standard, due to the non-compliances and exemptions listed below.

Non-accessible content

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.

Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations

Some PDF documents, particularly older policies and other documents in the Key Information section, are not fully accessible. For example, they may lack proper heading structure, tags, document titles or sufficient colour contrast. This may fail WCAG 2.2 success criteria such as:

  • 1.1.1 Non text content
  • 1.3.1 Info and relationships
  • 1.4.3 Contrast minimum
  • 2.4.6 Headings and labels

We are updating key policy documents as they are reviewed and aim to ensure all new PDF or Word documents published from January 2026 onward meet accessibility standards.

Some embedded content from third parties, such as the map on the Contact page, is not fully accessible. For example, it can be difficult to navigate using a keyboard and may not be fully announced by screen readers. This may fail WCAG 2.2 success criteria such as:

  • 2.1.1 Keyboard
  • 2.4.4 Link purpose
  • 4.1.2 Name, role, value

Where possible we provide alternative ways of getting the same information, for example giving directions by phone or email.

We use logos and images supplied by third parties, for example partner organisations and accreditation bodies. In a small number of cases, alternative text may be missing or not fully descriptive. This may fail WCAG 2.2 success criterion 1.1.1 Non text content. We correct issues when they are identified and aim to ensure new images have appropriate alternative text.

Disproportionate burden

At present we have not identified any accessibility issues where we believe it would be a disproportionate burden to fix them. If this changes, we will explain the reasons in this section.

Content that is not within the scope of the accessibility regulations

The accessibility regulations do not require us to fix certain types of content, for example:

  • PDFs and other documents published before 23 September 2018, if they are not essential for providing our services online
  • content produced by or for primary and secondary schools that is mainly aimed at pupils, such as some learning resources or homework materials, where it is not essential for using a service
  • third party content that is not under our control or that we have not paid for, such as maps, videos or widgets embedded from other websites

However, we aim to make important information, such as policies and key trust documents, as accessible as we reasonably can when these are reviewed.

What we are doing to improve accessibility

We are taking the following steps to improve accessibility:

  • building accessibility checks into our content and publishing process
  • reviewing and updating high priority PDFs and documents when they are renewed or replaced
  • working with our website provider to address any technical accessibility issues identified in audits
  • carrying out regular automated and manual accessibility checks against WCAG 2.2 AA
  • providing guidance to staff who create and upload content to the website
